Flooded Lead Acid Battery
FLA batteries are also known as wet cell batteries. They are made up of lead plates that are immersed in a liquid electrolyte solution of acid and water, and divided by separators. You need to keep an eye on the electrolyte level and fill it with distilled water occasionally.
The Club Car Onward electric (flooded lead acid) includes the standard FLA battery, has an aircraft quality aluminum frame, high quality seats, and LED headlights and running lamps.

High Performance Battery
High performance golf carts are designed to provide better acceleration, hill climbing power, and torque than other models. This is done is through a powerful motor and a higher voltage battery. Keep in mind that the type of terrain you drive on can affect the performance of the golf cart.
The Club Car Onward HP includes everything that the FLA battery does plus more – such as AC-driven power, increased acceleration, 375 AMP motor controller, and a variety of drive modes.
Lithium Ion Battery
Lithium ion batteries are the top of the line when it comes to electric golf cars! They can:
- Improve a golf cart’s weight-to-performance ratio
- Carry more weight
- Drive faster than golf carts with flooded lead acid batteries
- Provide the same voltage output at any charge level so the car won’t slow down when going uphill with a low battery
- Have a longer lifespan – lasting around 5,000 cycles / about 10 years (the FLA batteries typically last 400 cycles / 2-6 years)
- Protect the battery from overcharging because of the battery management system (BMS), so they don’t require regular watering like FLA batteries do
- Charge faster than other battery types
All of these factors combined make a golf car with a lithium ion battery easier to drive, quicker to get around, and more convenient because they require less maintenance. The Club Car Onward HP LI ION also includes a 6-year battery warranty.
